Do schools kill creativity? By Sir Ken Robinson #YouInspireMe

That title, "Do schools kill creativity" was the biggest catalyst for me. It felt good that an intellectual from a very formal and prestigious background posed this question. In fact it got me hooked on Ted Talks and I subscribed to their YouTube channel.

If you haven't seen it then you're in luck, I've included it into this post. Now I adore teachers, some of my dearest friends are educators but they face a problem. They're no longer measured by how they inspire life long learners but by test. How many children pass a rudimentary examination and how well they score. What would happen if we empowered teachers?

This is Sir Ken Robinson's 2006 Ted Talk

His 2010 follow-up, "Bring on the learning revolution!"

Can creativity help you get through self-doubt, challenges and loss?

If you know someone whose going through a difficult time, maybe it's you, what do you say. I never know what to say but I find myself feeling their pain. I breath in the experience and then exhale to release the energy. Sharing the moment is sometimes all a person needs but what you do after that is just as important. For some of us we use creativity to express and release our pain. I like the way Julie Burstein expresses a healthy way to look at challenges. Especially when it comes to deep loss or self-doubt.

What if our brokenness became the catalyst for significant creativity?

What if we embraced the creative process as so much more? Can it become a tool for healing?

What if we embraced challenges instead of getting over it?

What if?

What makes a Woman beautiful? #CreativeBeauty

Know your Beauty
Own your Beauty
Walk in your Beauty

I'm sure that validation and praise is wonderful but what do you do when no one is celebrating you? [Easy answer.] Celebrate yourself! Of all the beauties in Hollywood Sophia Loren is one of my favorites because she ages gloriously. Anyone can seem beautiful with youthful skin and adornments but let's wait for 80-years.

I have no clue into S.L.'s personal life but I can't help admire how she embraced her curves, hair & fiery heritage. It would seem that she possesses her beauty.

#CreativeBeauty idea...
Make a collage of words, images that boost your self esteem and pin-post-put it up.

One (1) Minute Meditation - Exercise for your mind.

Exercise for your mind.
Meditation isn't succumbing to the will of, "Whatever" it's actually a trained skill. The ability to quiet the lizard brain takes time. Let's take it one minute at a time. You can read the blog and set your timer for one minute or click on the vlog below.

1. Relax your shoulders.
2. Focus on 1 sound. Car you hear the flute?
3. Breath intentionally. Listen.

The benefits aren't as transparent but you will feel it over time.
  • Learn to be still.
  • Learn to focus inwardly.
  • Learn to disconnect from distractions.
  • Learn to reconnect with self.
Perhaps water isn't your thing and that's okay. In fact drinking a full glass of water and listening to the vlog might not be so helpful.[If you know what I mean.]

Over time you'll be able to literally, "Know thyself." And the next time you have a major decision to make you'll know the answer.

FYI: There's a faint flute sound in the background. Try to hear past the other sounds and see if you can connect to it. PEACE be the Journey.
