Help Kid-prenuers Make Summer CA$H

Remember the lemonade stands of the past? Well one summer my children needed to raise money for their Polynesian performing arts team. They suggested setting up a stand in front of our house. I was like, "ABSOLUTELY NOT." The neighborhood's great but...

It's all about location, location, location! My local farmers market is the perfect venue because people come ready to shop. Setting up a space is as simple as calling in and meeting all their requirements.

We have a choice (NZ slang for best) spot between the two main attractions at the market. I just hope they can concentrate on greeting potential customers. This actually opens up some new options for blogging as I intent to share the ups & downs they face.

This became the subject of the recent #BeautyBabiesBigBoyz and I've included a few farmers market links for the Pacific Northwest and the national farmers market association. The links are on the YouTube video.

And... thanks to my friend and biz buddy, Kiala Givehand, I've started the journey with this new book. More to come :)

PS: I'm teaching a DIY natural beauty class and the link is below. Eventually I HOPE to vlog about it. The class is called "Eat It or Wear It."

#GoBuck - Give your creativity permission to thrive.

Have you ever completed a project to find out that something was missing?

My children enjoy putting puzzles together and after opening the box they went to work. Then they noticed the missing piece and couldn't find it anywhere. Further more they were daunted by the fact that they couldn't create a solution. What did they do?

They laughed about it, jumped around and as it happened music was playing so they danced.  (Laughed some more.) In my opinion that describes the hashtag #GoBuck. It's an attitude of, "Why worry about what I can't change." It's also the freedom to say "I'm going to dance and I don't care who's watching." That is the perfect combination of #GoBuck which is having a positive attitude and freedom.

This is such a fun topic that we had to hash-it-out during The Creative View. (A weekly vlog I do with a few friends.) This topic had me rolling :)

#IntuitionRocks with The Creative View

Since March 3, 2015 I've been hashing trending thoughts with a few creatives on Google+ hangouts. Each time it get's better and the conversations are full of "aha" moments. This particular session was about intuition and how to recognize it in your life.

Grace's signature "Hmmm" look that usually get's me thinking. She has such deep insight.

TCV isn't complete without Kiala's water. Every session she shares insight about it's importance in our lives. <3

Of course I have some sort of tea but my favorite thing to share is a different mug during our meet-ups.

I try to add an art journal page after our sessions. This one is from a previous burst of inspiration. PEACE be the Journey.

If no one celebrates you, then CELEBRATE yourself!

We wait for other's to complement us because that's the polite thing to do but what if no one say's anything good about you? Then celebrate yourself! Get up and go somewhere that will boost your creative being. Maybe a cafe, museum, seaside, hike, window shop, concert, book store, craft store or garden.

My first years of marriage and motherhood weren't as celebrated as I would have imagined. (Young couples trying to make ends meet are often too busy pinching pennies.) One year I decided to celebrate Mothers Day my way. Zero expectations on my husband and an entire day that I can plan and do what ever I wanted... alone.

As it turned out I began to invite other women to hangout and every year there was something different to do. Then one year I came home to an elaborate dinner and eventually these grew into gift cards, museum memberships, roses and trips planned by my husband and children.

I guess they saw me celebrating and wanted to join the party. This year they took me to one of my favorite Seattle spots, Chihuly Garden and Glass. I was impressed at how they engaged with all of the art pieces, even my two year old. The bottom line is that you teach people how to treat you. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 30 - Keep moving to live better :)

Last day! Now don't get too excited because it's only the beginning. We started a self discovery and wellness challenge about twenty-nine days ago and today marks it's completion.

It was the intention of art journaling everyday and sticking to the iLove Pledge of wellness. Everyday participants jumped onto the blog to read the prompt, get inspiration and learn something new.

The best part is that you can revisit the #iLoveTBC (i Love Total Body Challenge) when ever you choose. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 28 - Write into your future.

Have you ever written a message "into" your future. It's an amazing process of the sub-conscience dancing with self determination. The idea is to write a letter to yourself outlining your "projected" accomplishments.

In other words you are writing your "present" goals as if they already happened. Then you date it and schedule a time to re-read it in the future.
(Example: I want to eat healthy and loose 40pounds. My letter would say, "I'm proud of reaching my goal and fitting into my new smaller jeans. Best of all I eat clean 80% of the time and have cut back on sugars." Written April - Reread July.)

Special recording #ManifestingSelf

This process only works if you schedule a time to revisit your letter of determination. I found it helpful to schedule a reminder on my phone. You can determine the length of time. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 27 - Celebrate don't tolerate.

Having the "End" in mind is a good habit because it teaches us to be mindful of the journey. I truly hope that you are planning a BIG PARTY after your 30-Days. Don't just tolerate the fact that you tried something new. Celebrate your steps toward self-discovery and wellness.

How you celebrate is completely up to you. So be original and have fun planning a way to commemorate the occasion. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 26 - Do you have a symbol?

Symbols are a powerful representation of what we believe. It doesn't take words to express the idea behind the design. Think about how you shop and the way you choose your products. You look at the packaging or a familiar symbol.

Create your own symbol :) Chances are that you already have one. Maybe you wear a hummingbird pendant or have the infinity sign tattooed on your arm. Today try to doodle your very own personal symbol.

Wrap your symbol with the intention of love and prosperity. Let it remind you of your brilliance and just keep moving. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 25 - How to create simple affirmations to support your goals.

Like everything else that is shared here I prefer to answer the, "What is it?" And "Why do I need it?"

What is an affirmation?
It's support or encouragement to affirm something. This can be written or memorized.

Why do I need it?
We all need encouragement. The end. (Ahhh... but there's more.)

Watch the YouTube video #FailuresNotEnough then make your own affirmation. (New episodes are recorded on Tuesday's so don't forget to subscribe.)

How to create your own affirmation.

  • Think about three strong and positive emotions you feel.
  • Write them down.
  • Now build a sentence with those words.
  • Keep it simple and with one thought unless the words flow together. (Like live, laugh, love.)
Bad example: I know that I can run every day, do 100 squats and Zumba®   with Ho'o five times a week.

  1. There's zero emotions involved. Needs heart.
  2. Too many things happening.
  3. A bit unrealistic to real life situations.
Good example: I will move with intention daily.

#iLoveTBC , Day 24 - How to create sacred space.

Before I share with you how to create sacred space I have three reasons why you need one.

  1. When life get's chaotic this space with help to keep you sane.
  2. It's a physical representation of inner-peace.
  3. Let's face it, we need it.

I have three different approaches to creating sacred space. It's the Simple Chic , Way of Peace or Great Escape.

Simple Chic

  • Get a beautiful tray.
  • Place one (1) focus object & two (2) balance items. This combination can be a picture with two candles. Maybe a small statue and two plants.
  • This area must remain dust & clutter free. You can not place keys, mail or anything other then the three (3) items.
Way of Peace

  • This will be on a credenza or side table. (I have one in my hall-way thus the name.)
  • There will be five (5) objects in this presentation. Same as above plus two (2) which is a table runner and a mirror. The table runner will add flow and color for the three (3) items. Then place the mirror behind as a reflection point. *Tip: You can frost one positive word onto your mirror.
  • This space must also remain dust & clutter free.
Great Escape

  • An entire room or garden. This will be a lot more work to create but it's worth it.
  • Add elements that give you energy & joy. Keep it to a minimum because you don't want to have too much stuff.
  • Set up a place to recline & reflect.
  • This space is reserved for special "Me" time.
  • Finally, it must remain dust & clutter free. *Tip: Music or water features are perfect for this space.
