#iLoveTBC , Day 26 - Do you have a symbol?

Symbols are a powerful representation of what we believe. It doesn't take words to express the idea behind the design. Think about how you shop and the way you choose your products. You look at the packaging or a familiar symbol.

Create your own symbol :) Chances are that you already have one. Maybe you wear a hummingbird pendant or have the infinity sign tattooed on your arm. Today try to doodle your very own personal symbol.

Wrap your symbol with the intention of love and prosperity. Let it remind you of your brilliance and just keep moving. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 24 - How to create sacred space.

Before I share with you how to create sacred space I have three reasons why you need one.

  1. When life get's chaotic this space with help to keep you sane.
  2. It's a physical representation of inner-peace.
  3. Let's face it, we need it.

I have three different approaches to creating sacred space. It's the Simple Chic , Way of Peace or Great Escape.

Simple Chic

  • Get a beautiful tray.
  • Place one (1) focus object & two (2) balance items. This combination can be a picture with two candles. Maybe a small statue and two plants.
  • This area must remain dust & clutter free. You can not place keys, mail or anything other then the three (3) items.
Way of Peace

  • This will be on a credenza or side table. (I have one in my hall-way thus the name.)
  • There will be five (5) objects in this presentation. Same as above plus two (2) which is a table runner and a mirror. The table runner will add flow and color for the three (3) items. Then place the mirror behind as a reflection point. *Tip: You can frost one positive word onto your mirror.
  • This space must also remain dust & clutter free.
Great Escape

  • An entire room or garden. This will be a lot more work to create but it's worth it.
  • Add elements that give you energy & joy. Keep it to a minimum because you don't want to have too much stuff.
  • Set up a place to recline & reflect.
  • This space is reserved for special "Me" time.
  • Finally, it must remain dust & clutter free. *Tip: Music or water features are perfect for this space.

#iLoveTBC , Day 23 - Meditate to be courageous.

Sometimes you have to dig deep and find the courage to follow through. Sure, we're all good a having big ideas or starting a 30-day challenge but what does it take to finish strong. I believe that it takes courage.

Watch the 1-Minute Meditation and doodle or write a few images that come to mind. It's just one minute, you can hold back the sun for a moment of stillness.

It takes courage to...

  • Re-frame your thinking.
  • Add positive thoughts.
  • Build new thought patterns.
  • Step AWAY from the things that will cause you to fall.
  • Step AWAY from the people that will cause you to fall.
  • To believe that you are meant to grasp happiness and own it.
  • Finish what you started.
  • Stop giving into distractions.
  • Ask for "Help" when you need support to reach your goal.
PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 19 - People reflect our perception.

Have you ever walked out of your house and forgot to put on deodorant? Then you go on your way and you're sure that everyone notices. A friend say's hello and you just raise an eyebrow politely because you're too afraid to wave out.

Which causes one to ponder... How often does our own self perception get in the way?

Go around and ask close family members or friends to describe you in one word. Then reflect on their verbal expression. Is that what you expected?

#iLoveTBC , Day 18 - Why you need FUN.

I use to think "Fun" only happened during family vacations. Then one day I decided to treat my weekends like mini-vacations. I though it would be easy to plan a fun event on Saturday or Sunday but it wasn't. I found myself catching up on laundry, cleaning gutters, dusting and the mundane list goes on.

The truth is that we need fun in our lives just as much as fitness, nutrients, purpose and passion.

  • Fun recharges your emotional batteries.
  • Fun allows you to de-stress creatively.
  • Fun builds your self confidence.
  • Fun is a part of your self-care routine.
  • Fun keeps you young at heart.

After weeks of unsuccessful stay-cation's (stay + vacation: It's when you don't travel too far) I decided to make a plan and involve my family. This is how the conversation went...
1. In order for us to have fun weekends we have to do our house chores during the week.

2. From now on Tuesday is our laundry day and Thursday will be our heavy cleaning.

3. Kitchen, Bedrooms, Bathroom is daily so put things back where you got them and clean-up after yourselves.

4. By Friday everything should be done and we're FREE on the weekends.

So far they've kept to their chore list and I have too. We all look forward to weekends because we work hard during the week. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 16 - Get out of the conversation!

Get out of the constant self-talk of, "Someday, Maybe, I wish I could..." and just make IT happen. What have you been talking about but never took the time to start? How much time has passed by since you identified this desire/idea.

The iLove Pledge it a call to action for all of us. We were no longer going to just talk about being healthy. We made plans, took a stand & did it one day at a time.

Here's another funny video filmed with my two friends Kiala Givehand & Grace Howes hashing #MakeItHappen :)

After watching the collabō write down your thoughts. Don't forget to influence others in the iLove way of thinking and feeling. Stick to the pledge and PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 13 - Understand the Power of...

Joy is one of those emotions that work best when you have a heart to heart experience with someone else. It goes far beyond and deeper then happy because you can be "happy" by yourself but JOY comes with connection. Joy's power is vibrant, healing and most of all extremely attractive.

Imagine having a hand full of colorful Mylar balloons and giving one to every person who passes you by and it never runs out. That bright gift was unexpected but every person got their favorite color and design. They skip away laughing uncontrollably while you feel the energy of their pure JOY. It's a beautiful feeling that is usually accomplished with others. PEACE be the Journey.

#iLoveTBC , Day 11 - The Best Invention

If there was an invention that could ensure health what would it look like? We actually do have such a machine and it's available to all but I'll share that on the next blog post. Let's focus on what we can create.

Staying positive goes hand in hand with good health. In fact, the happier a person feels will often reflect their outlook on themselves. And when you add delicious eating habits, regular self-care & time for hobbies you have the perfect conditions for vitality.

What will you do to ensure your happiness? What will you create?

That's not a house! Building creative confidence by overcoming past criticisms.

Can you remember back to kindergarten when you were told to color in the lines. Then one day your teacher told you to draw something, "Please draw a house." Then the snotty nose kid leans over to you and says, "das no house" or the teacher criticizes your lines. Has this happened to you? Well good news, there's hope.

Building creative confidence starts today because anyone can and should create.

1. Start by setting aside time to create.
2. Make sure that it's regular.
3. Share your creations with a small circle of people you trust.
4. Invite others into the creative process.
5. Value your creative time & read books, articles about it.

David Kelley's Ted Talk: How to build your creative confidence, is filled with insights about the process of regaining faith in your artistic abilities. I especially liked his references to Dr. Bandura and how self efficacy can actually help us kill the fear of failure.

You don't overcome everything in one moment but you will gain self-belief one project at a time. Maybe you're an awesome painter but you've always dreamed of playing the ukulele. Start small and sign up for lessons. Be yourself and allow your creative genius to flourish. See you on Facebook and please take time to LIKE us & share. PEACE be the Journey

What does the apple say? #CreativeBeauty

Beauty Post [singing out loud] but it's not what you think. What do you say to yourself about "yourself?"

Creative Beauty: The process by which one accepts what they can't change. While changing what they can, which will benefit them over time. [Like that? Made it up myself.]

I was staring at a basket of fake fruit. [I use it as a prop at health expo's.] And had the funnies thought, "We compare our shape and size to fruit, what if fruit did the same?" What does the apple say? Nothing... because it could care less about the other fruit around it.

What if we didn't compare ourselves to others?

Then I jumped into CB Mode and grabbed a few items. [Once again while my oatmeal cooked.] You can easily recreate your own still life painting and have fun.

In a frenzy I smudged, outlined and laughed out loud... really loud. The truth is that we, Americans, need better beauty images. And if you can't find it then create what you want to see.

PUH! Peek-Under-the-Hood

You might have seen my earlier post on up-cycling planners and I got a Peek-Under-the-Hood [Puh!] from two other creatives. And you might connect with the fact that creatives have too many ideas and not enough follow-through. Well that's not the case with these ladies because they're able to live as a Right-Brainer while handling Left-Brain details. I'm including their vlog post.

I'm not able to post Kiala's planner vlog on YouTube at this moment but this link should take you there. http://youtu.be/srMquRAUrjY Below is another GHC vlog.

My Reflection
  • The value of multi-planners
  • Investment Into Several Systems
  • Monthly, Weekly & Daily Tracking
We all enjoy color-coding and multi layering our planners. I'm actually thinking about buying a midoris... thinking. Until then I'll continue to see how they use theirs.

My mini-vlog [ukulele only] but this isn't the system I use, it was a challenge I did to see how many planners I could up-cycle for under $10.00  the full version is on this link: http://youtu.be/TGYGk-JhKlI

The Creative Boost for New Years #2 [ Planners ]

"If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail." Harvey Mackay

I have two themes for the new year which are consistency & simplicity. Luckily I joined the planner-revolution decades ago and enjoy creating my own semi-simple planner.  [Example above.] However, with so many sophisticated tools for organization techniques, you can blow your budget by purchasing all the accessories you need to make your planner complete.

Here's an example of last years mess which become pages in my planner + scrapbook = plook. My logic is that I can use my planner as a way to add photos and artistic embellishments on a regular basis. Creating a timeline of relevant events and celebrations.

How to make your plook.
  • Start with a 3-ring binder of your choice. It doesn't have to be scrapbook size.
  • Buy a cheep calendar to pull apart.
  • Buy, trade or swap scrapbook paper.
  • Print out your weekly schedule. [Make your own or buy it.]
I was going to explain it but I think it might be easier to show you. If you would like to see a vlog about making your own #plook Facebook theCB page and LIKE it. Encourage your friends and family to LIKE it too and when it reaches 100 I'll make & post that tutorial. When it reaches 500 I'll post a free template of a reprint-able weekly planner page. Until next time :)
