#SummerCreative Easy iPhone Photography

I'll be the first to say that I am addicted to taking pictures, ask my family. One simple hike will turn into a slow pace and eventually an abrupt halt. I travel light with just an iPhone and a tiny bag carrying my ōllo Clip. I wrote an entire blog post about my lens and will include the link below. These images were captured with a 10x Macro.

If no one celebrates you, then CELEBRATE yourself!

We wait for other's to complement us because that's the polite thing to do but what if no one say's anything good about you? Then celebrate yourself! Get up and go somewhere that will boost your creative being. Maybe a cafe, museum, seaside, hike, window shop, concert, book store, craft store or garden.

My first years of marriage and motherhood weren't as celebrated as I would have imagined. (Young couples trying to make ends meet are often too busy pinching pennies.) One year I decided to celebrate Mothers Day my way. Zero expectations on my husband and an entire day that I can plan and do what ever I wanted... alone.

As it turned out I began to invite other women to hangout and every year there was something different to do. Then one year I came home to an elaborate dinner and eventually these grew into gift cards, museum memberships, roses and trips planned by my husband and children.

I guess they saw me celebrating and wanted to join the party. This year they took me to one of my favorite Seattle spots, Chihuly Garden and Glass. I was impressed at how they engaged with all of the art pieces, even my two year old. The bottom line is that you teach people how to treat you. PEACE be the Journey.

DIY - Image placement that speaks volumes.

What if you wanted to post something to sell or share and all you had was your mobile phone. What would you do?

White backgrounds are a thing of the past. And if you can take a snapshot of your product in a relatable environment you might not need to add text.

It's nice to adjust the color richness within the picture. Stay away from direct or harsh lights. In other words day light is great but don't let it beam all over your subject.

Placing your product off to the side and focusing on it will do wonders. Why? Because it tells a story and we all know, "Facts tell and stories sell!" The image below makes me think about natural and flowing water which I will probable associate to this brand. The picture below is almost complete but I think it needs more color.

A few things to keep in mind...
  • Stay away from harsh lights
  • Give your product a foundation. [In the pic above that would be the rock.]
  • Take an eye level pic.
  • Tell a visual story.
  • Be mindful of the background. [This was a cloudy day but I made it work.]
  • You can do a simple burst of color to add richness. [See the example above]

9 #MakeItHappen TIPS

"I double dog dare you..." was the last thing I heard to prove that I could fly but when you're five anything is possible. Somehow we have to reconnect to the bold and defiant energy of a five year old. Look at your ideas and just make it happen.

The minds of first flight didn't have blueprints, tools or education to build a flying craft. However they did have the desire. I got together with a few friends for our weekly collabō's [collaboration] aka "The Creative View" and we hashed what we do to make stuff happen. I counted nine [9] tips to success.

Amelia E flew a plane just like the one above in fact it is and it's on display at the Museum of Flight. It's inspiring to think that she wanted to do more then just dream, she wanted to make it happen. What's one action step that you can do today to make your dreams fly?
