White backgrounds are a thing of the past. And if you can take a snapshot of your product in a relatable environment you might not need to add text.
It's nice to adjust the color richness within the picture. Stay away from direct or harsh lights. In other words day light is great but don't let it beam all over your subject.
Placing your product off to the side and focusing on it will do wonders. Why? Because it tells a story and we all know, "Facts tell and stories sell!" The image below makes me think about natural and flowing water which I will probable associate to this brand. The picture below is almost complete but I think it needs more color.
A few things to keep in mind...
- Stay away from harsh lights
- Give your product a foundation. [In the pic above that would be the rock.]
- Take an eye level pic.
- Tell a visual story.
- Be mindful of the background. [This was a cloudy day but I made it work.]
- You can do a simple burst of color to add richness. [See the example above]
